We are Annika, Mat, Saskia and Steve, and together we are walking the 100km Oxfam Trailwalker to raise money for Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust. Our walk starts at 09:00 on 14 July 2012, and our target is to finish in about 28 hours.
The Trailwalker is an annual event taking place on the South Downs. The walk is a continuous 100km (that’s 62 miles), roughly between Petersfield and Brighton. There’s no sleeping on the way, although we will have a gorgeous support crew to help us on our way and give us encouragement (and blister packs) when we need them.
To put it in perspective, the Trailwalker is roughly like walking two and a half marathons, and climbing both Snowdon and Ben Nevis for good measure.
You can read more about the trailwalker at http://www.oxfam.org.uk/trailwalker
To give us a fighting chance we’ve been working hard on our practice walks. We’ve tackled Snowdon, walked the Ridgeway, braved the Offa’s Dyke path in the pouring rain and done a 60km night hike across the South Downs route. And we survived, so have a cautious level of optimism about the real thing.
So please do help us out and make the challenge for us worthwhile. You can sponsor as using this link:
Tea and Clogs (aka Annika, Mat, Saskia and Steve)
PS The name? Ah, well Annika and Saskia are Dutchies, Mat and Steve are British (actually Steve is Cornish, but we’ll put that battle of nationality aside for now). Hence Tea. And Clogs.
